CEO & CSO of Vichem Chemie Research Ltd
Curriculum Vitae

He is a founder of Vichem Chemie Research Ltd, present position is Chief Executive Officer and Chief Scientific Officer.

He is Head of Signal Transduction Therapy Laboratory of Hungarian Academy of Sciences at Semmelweis University, and President of Rational Drug Design Laboratories Cooperation Research Center.

György Kéri is a chemist by profession and got his PhD from biochemistry in 1976 at Eötvös University of Sciences, Budapest, and was a post doc in 1978-1979 with Prof. J. Ramachandran, University of California, San Francisco. He was visiting Scientist in the United States 19 times for various time periods on the bases of joint research programs with UCSF, Genetech and SUgen.

He has founded Biosignal Ltd in 1992, to utilize and develop his signal inhibiting somatostatin peptide compound (TT232) which has reached phase II. clinical trials and was recently licensed to Tallion Pharmaceuticals.

He has been collaborating with Prof. Axel Ullrich (chief scientist of Genentech, Max Planck Institute and SUgen) for more than 20 years on developing kinase inhibitors. He was advisor and collaborative partner of SUgen Inc. between 1992-1999 and Axxima Pharmaceuticals between 1999-2005.

He was involved in the development of SU101, which has reached Phase III. clinical trial at SUgen. He has developed the Nested Chemical Library Technology in Biosignal and later on at Vichem. He has also participated in the development of the KinaTor technology for selectivity profiling of kinase inhibitors.

György Kéri has received 2 international and 7 Hungarian awards, published 155 scientific papers in international journals, and has 69 international patents. He is co-Editor in Chief of the journal: Signal Transduction Therapy, and co-Editor of the book: Molecular pathomechanisms, new trends in drug research (Taylor & Francis). He is member of the Executive Committee of Hungarian Biotech Association and of EuroBio.

Dr. László Őrfi PhD
COO & VP of Chemistry of Vichem Chemie Research Ltd

He is co-founder of Vichem and serves the company as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of chemistry.

He is associate professor of Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Semmelweis University and director of medicinal chemistry in the Rational Drug Design Laboratories Cooperation Research Center of Semmelweis University.

He is lecturer in pharmaceutical chemistry (traditional and instrumental drug analysis, SPR, QSAR (structure-property-bioactivity) relations. He is experienced in computational molecular property prediction methods, molecular modeling) parallel synthesis of small peptide, peptidomimetic and nonpeptidic compound libraries, rational drug design, synthesis of new heterocyclic compounds.

He worked as external scientific advisor for numerous pharmaceutical and research companies (e.g. G. Richter Chinoin, EGIS, Pharmavit, Compudrug, Comgenex, Compelit, Biosignal, Biostatin etc.) and the Hungarian Patent Office.

He was visiting Scientist in the research group of C.K.Larive at the Department of Bioanalytical Chemistry, University of Kansas in 1995-1996. His research was focused on drug, peptide and protein structure and aggregation, diffusion coefficient measurements using pulsed field gradient NMR spectroscopy, conformational analysis of potential drug molecules and peptides by 2D NMR methods and molecular modeling.

He was also visiting scientist in R. Houghten's laboratory, Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies, San Diego, CA in 1998 and 1999. He worked on design and combinatorial synthesis of combined heterocyclic amino acid and peptide derivatives.

László Őrfi has published 83 scientific papers and has 29 international patents, received three Hungarian awards.
