Influenza

Influenza is an emerging worldwide health threat. Vichem in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology has already developed some very potent nanomolar IC50 hit/lead compounds to inhibit virus propagation using its unique Nested Chemical Library™ technology. These compounds act via inhibition of host cell signaling, therefore remain effective against viral strains resistant to currently marketed antiviral drugs targeting viral proteins. Working together with MPI we are working on further development of these compounds and optimize them for efficacy, oral bioavailability and pharmacokinetic parameters.

Working together with KPS Ltd. in Hungary an integrated aim of our project is to develop a novel molecular diagnostic method which quickly, and cost efficiently identifies emerging viral strains harbouring mutations responsible for resistance and identifies the target patient population of our novel drug candidates.
